The Bulgarian Green Building Council participated in the World Green Building Week on the 26th and 27th of September 2018. The slogan of the green building week this year was: #HomeGreenHome, promoting the the idea of healthy homes and housing development.

Our colleagues and partners from Polygraphia Office Center hosted our event which brought many high profile experts to this worldwide initiative! This annual event is the largest in the Green Building Councils worldwide network.

Our programme covered different perspectives for greener and healthier homes by inviting professionals in the field from different sectors – business, science, financing and government. Our speakers represented the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Ministry of Regional Development and Pubilc works, Sofia Municipality, World Resource Institute, Turkey, EnEffect, Stephen George International Bulgaria, Lion’s Head Investment, Association of commercial building owners in Bulgaria and the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria.

We all had the chance to understand more about the National renovation strategy for residential building, what a passive house means and how to achieve it, what are the abilities of the new IFC certification tool - EDGE, as well as many more about the market and evolution of the green buildings in Bulgaria and around the globe.

The conclusion this event led to was that all of us believe that planning sustainable measures to help improve the urban environment and building stock, striving for energy efficiency in buildings and improving the quality of life of occupants, are topics of great importance for adaptation to climate change!
